Group riding numbers vary considerably depending on weather and our destination. However, we rarely have less than six riders at the start and have had as many as 12/18 riders at lunch. We have a nucleus of ten fairly regular riders, plus another six or so occasional supporters. We hope these numbers will increase as more people know about us. If anyone with us has a mechanical problem, e.g. puncture or gears, there is always someone to help mend or sort things out and we never leave anybody to their own devices but always stop & help, also we carry first aid kits should they be needed.
We have been trialling a new system as per the A section, whereby we have a fast and slow group. It seems to be working well so far, and I do hope now that people will not be worried about the speed of the run or being left behind. We have a separate leaders for both groups who have their own route to try and have both groups arrive at the coffee, lunch and tea stops at approximately the same time. We would like to encourage riders of all ages and abilities to join us.
In 2020 when our winter is hopefully behind us, we will continue to meet at Great Waltham once per month so we can get a bit further afield and it will be at the same meeting time outside the church.
