Another cold start this morning from the Fountain. we were six in total –
myself (leading), Andy, John D, Angie, Mia and Martin. We headed for the
Christmas lunch at the Rising Sun in Halls Green via Baldock, Wallington,
Rushden and Luffenhall – luckily there was little wind today although it was
quite cold, so a pleasant ride out to Halls Green.
Had to pop in to Tri sports at the start to borrow a pair of Pliers to
perform a quick repair on Martin’s front brake but only few minute delay.
We arrived well on time for the Lunch and was met by the other section
members :Adrian and Mick (on Bikes) and Stuart, Geoff P, Peter, Jack, Roy,
Geoff H, Anne Clair, Kris and John H (in cars). A really good turn out for the
section. Meal was very nice and the service was also good, taking into account
our numbers – Good job Stuart for arranging this Lunch,
Before the meal small prizes were given out to valued members of our section
(that’s not to say you’re not all valued !):
• Adrian –
for leading the majority of our rides this year and also showing us all so many
new ways to ride to the destinations in the area.
• Mia – for leading many of the Tuesday rides
• Stuart – For the work you’ve done in the role of section secretary and for
ensuring no one is left behind on most of our rides
• Geoff P – For the work you do in planning where we are going each week.
To try to be home before the sun went down, after our meal and coffee the
cyclists returned by the short route via Weston, Graveley and Great Wymondley.
Note: Picture taken after the meal with all present except Mick, Roy (who
both had to leave early) and Adrian.
For this ride our total mileage was only 23 miles (But it’s Christmas). Alan B
