Distinctly autumnal this morning, but there was a good turn-out nevertheless. Eight set out from the LGC fountain; myself, Alan, Jack, Andy, Mia, Richard, Geoff H and Steve C, and we were joined by John H and Nige at Wymondley.
The (hilly) route out was via Preston, Whitwell and Bendish.
A bit on the chilly side, but as there was no wind it was quite pleasant, and the hills helped keep us warm… at East Hyde we met up with Mick (Harpenden) and Geoff P (Luton) who’d both ridden out independently.
On arrival at The Woodyard we were told there might be a bit of a wait as they were a bit short-staffed, but as it turned out it wasn’t too bad, and besides we were in no hurry!
It was a bit cold for sitting out though, and by the time we left I had got quite chilled Thankfully the sun started to come out, and there were more hills to climb!
The route was approx. 32 miles, at an average of 12 mph (Hilly!).
Note – Geoff took the photo.
