As the forecast was for 30 plus degrees today, we decided to keep the ride shorter than usual, but in the event the temp topped out at 29… but humid with it, we even had a little rain, rather welcome actually.
Six of us initially left the fountain; Adrian, Kris on a new bike, Ronnie, Jack, Andy E and Paul. Kris then suffered a puncture (!) at the end of Works Road. Late start today for me as usual but with Kris’s puncture I caught them very early,
Soon we were on our way once more to the Woodman via Sandon and Barkway. A very good venue, The Woodman, a nice setting and efficient service.
Alan and Paul set off on a brisk pace on, what we thought was the direct route, but ended up longer as we passed though Buntingford, still back in Hitchin for 14,00hrs.
The rest of us to took a slightly longer route, with Andy diverting at Odsey and me at Ashwell, with the remaining three carrying on for LGC.A hot and sticky ride but good nonetheless.
