Five started today at the fountain for the ride to the Hot Numbers café in Meldreth, with me (running late as normal) joining at Baldock – making Six in Total;
Adrian, Mia, Kris, Roy, myself and Stewart (welcome back)
With Adrian leading, we took the route to Shepreth via Bygrave (where I took some action photos !! attached), then onto Ashwell, Steeple Morden, Bassingbourn and Meldreth.
Very mild day going with the wind either behind or gusting at the side which can surprise you – so had to take care.
Arrived at the Cafe in good time and sat outside in the sun (see photo).
First time for us here and it was more spacious than I expected. Food was good and we did not have to wait.
For the return we split up – Due to the heavy head wind Stewart, Roy and Mia decided to get the Train back from Meldreth.
Adrian and Kris took the nominal route back and I, needing to get back to Hitchin quickly, took the mad direct route on the A10 and A505 to Baldock – it was a much harder ride returning with head wind.
Note: Check out the mounds of sugar beet at the side of the road.
I hope the Train back was not delayed
