Excursion Rides 2010
Each year, the section rides a number of excursions away from our normal riding area. These are a maximum of 50 miles in distance and ridden during the months May to October so that there is sufficient daylight to enable the unhurried enjoyment of new riding territory.
Here are the details of our 2010 excursions initially presented in the form of a planned route. When the ride is complete actual data, descriptions and pictures, if available, will be used to update the presentation. You can then click through the opening summaries and you will find detailed mapping of the routes, as ridden, ascent/descent profiles, and some on location pictures. All of the illustrations/pictures will expand to full size when you click on them.

The first leg of the ride is to the Buddle Inn, St Catherines Point, for the lunch stop. The second leg of the ride is to The Brighstone Tea Rooms, overlooking the South West coast of the island. The final leg takes us through Cowes, on the coastal road, passing Egypt Point, and crossing the River Medina estuary by way of the Cowes Floating Bridge. It is worth noting that this bridge is the only connection between West and East Cowes, which would otherwise require an 8 mile detour via Newport. more...
