Surrey and Sussex Section

Section Notes

Links

The Surrey and Sussex Section meets every Tuesday and Friday, except Christmas Day. The Runs List shows a meet (for coffee) and a lunch venue at a pub. There is a group ride from the coffee shop to the lunch venue, the route for which is agreed between the participants.

In practice, due to the wide area from which our active riders are drawn, many find it most convenient to join us only for coffee, or prefer to ride directly to the lunch venue, with only a small number of riders joining the group ride.

From April to October we have a monthly train or car assisted ride, on Wednesdays, to take us out of our usual cycling area. We have also recently introduced Sunday morning ‘elevenses meets’.

Our Section is very informal. New members are welcome and may simply turn up at the coffee or lunch meets whenever the date and destination suits.
Our rides, and our coffee and lunch meets, are mainly in West Sussex and East Surrey, and our section web site provides all of the information you are likely to need in the form of the Runs List, Maps, and a Cross Referencing List of our venues.

Set of Maps for All of Our Meets

This is a set of maps to support the runs list and in doing so may be useful particularly for new members. Well established members may also refresh themselves about parts not visited before, or for a long time. Visiting members from other sections, should they feel the urge to go 'out of area', will likewise have a ready reference.

The detailed maps, of which there are nine, are fully navigable at one mile to the measure, showing all known roads including some unpaved roads and detailing all of our meeting places.

Our riding area covers some 890 square miles and is served by more than 100 elevenses and lunchtime venues.

One other map - shown below in reduced form - at three miles to the measure, is a summary map, a high level view of the general spread of our meeting places with an indication of how the detailed maps are placed with respect to our total riding area.

All Stops

A cross referencing list is provided so that any named venue can be quickly related to the appropriate detailed map(s).
